CIINTRA & Edward Barber
purplenoise collective is a duo of artists who have been collaborating for the past few years, exploring the intersection of digital technology and human emotions through immersive visual and sonic experiences.

CIINTRA

Audio Designer & Composer

Audio designer, composer, and music producer who has worked professionally with audio for video games and other interactive media since 2009, including some award-winning titles.

He performed some of his original soundtracks with interactive visuals designed by Edward Barber at festivals like AMAZE in Berlin and shared his audio concepts as a speaker at various events such as Play Festival in Hamburg and Lisbon Games Week. He has also taught sound design and music production at different schools and projects.

Recently, he became obsessed with hardware synths and other machines, exploring a new world between mental structures and the freedom of hypnotic improvisation. A new live performance has emerged by blending energetic rhythms with meticulously crafted magnetic textures and pushing beyond genre boundaries.

Edward Barber

Shutter Shadows

Interactive Audiovisual Experience

The profusion and development of machine learning, AI, algorithm-based personalisation and neuroscience have dramatically altered the premises for human privacy in a time when these tools empower an unprecedented persuasion and manipulation of individual freedom of choice and decision-making, using social media as the strongest and most effective interference channel.

Loneliness is an unavoidable consequence of a world where people's real social connections and the sense of intimacy vanishes through the time spent consuming digital media while looking at screens or experiencing virtual connections.

Shutter Shadows proposes exploring these modern thematics in vogue through an interactive sonic and visual metaphor starting from the poetical image of looking through a window blind and becoming a self-voyeur and part of a group sharing an emotional experience at the same time.
